A numbered run of 500

Aprilia showed the RSV4 Obscure Spe.Ed. at EICMA on 3 November, as a numbered edition of 500 bikes. The V4 makes 220 hp, as on the standard RSV4. Much of the bodywork is carbon fibre, and the wheels are too. That brings the weight down to 201 kg in running order. With the full ART exhaust and the carbon SC Project end can from Aprilia Racing's accessory catalogue, it drops to 196 kg.

Leg Wings from MotoGP

The Obscure Spe.Ed. is the first bike in its class with Leg Wings, carbon aero parts already used on Aprilia Racing's RS-GP prototype. Aprilia says they generate downforce without hurting handling, and they are part of an aero package developed in the wind tunnel.

Mechanical Öhlins for racing

Aprilia chose mechanically adjustable Öhlins suspension rather than electronic units, saying it suits riders who want to set the bike up for racing. The TTX shock and the NIX fork are fully adjustable for rebound, compression and spring preload.
